Cold Steel US 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber, another 1055 carbon steel blade by Cold Steel! As expected, it's really tough and heavy. This is my first time handling Cavalry Saber, but this piece had got me interested in this style of blade. If you are new to my blog, you might not know that I am from a Kung Fu background and I am a Kung Fu master. These "western blades" are new to me but I am trying to see what I can get out of it with my knowledge in blades and weapons.
Here is my review and test with the Cold Steel US 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber. Hope you like my test cutting too!
The Cold Steel US 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber is only sharpened 1/2 half and the back 1/2 is non sharpened or even a faux edge. It cannot cut but it can be enough to chop into someone's shoulder with force. If you like to sharpen that part, you can do so, but it's not something I will do. Honestly, I find that the blade is sharpened that way for its purpose, and so I will leave it alone and try my best to learn from the blade.
A lot of people had commented about this Cold Steel US 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber, saying that it's too heavy or too heavy toward the tip. As compare to the historical piece, this Cold Steel US 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber is heavier and harder to handle. Well, it's alright, I won't mind handling a heavier blade! In fact, I love it for the weight! What do you think?
